Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) are the programs, activities and interactions used by governments, owners, operators and stakeholders to protect their critical infrastructure. [1]

Moreover, NATO defines Critical Infrastructure Protection Capability:

Critical Infrastructure Protection Capability is The ability to prepare for, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from critical infrastructure disruptions or destruction.. [2].


European Definitions

Council Directive 2008/114/EC
