NATO

Civil military cooperation (CIMIC): A joint function comprising a set of capabilities integral to supporting the achievement of mission objectives and enabling NATO commands to participate effectively in a broad spectrum of civil-military interaction with diverse non-military actors. [1]


Civil military cooperation (CIMIC) is the coordination and cooperation, in support of the mission, between the NATO Commander and civil actors, including the national population and local authorities, as well as international, national and non-governmental organizations and agencies.

Coopération civilo-militaire, ou CIMIC (Civil-military Co-operation), est une fonction opérationnelle destinée à améliorer l'intégration des forces armées dans l'environnement civil d'un théâtre d'opération. [5]

Elle facilite l'accomplissement des missions militaires, le rétablissement d'une situation sécuritaire normale et la prise en compte de la gestion de la crise par les autorités civiles. Les principaux objectifs CIMIC sont donc l'appui à la Force et à l'environnement civil et humanitaire.
