The ability to prepare for and adapt to changing conditions and withstand and recover rapidly from disruptions; includes the ability to withstand and recover from deliberate attacks, accidents, or naturally occurring threats or incidents [1].
Older definition [2]: ability to resist, absorb, recover from or successfully adapt to adversity or a change in conditions.
Germany
Resilience is a system's ability to deal with changes. Resilience means resistance to disruptions of any kind, adaptability to new conditions and a flexible response to changes with the aim of maintaining the system, for example a company or a process [3].
