Our paper “Shape Dithering for 3D Printing” has been published in the SIGGRAPH 2022 special issue of ACM Transactions on Graphics. This is joint work with Mostafa Morsy and Philipp Urban, which dithers an implicit shape representation using a high-frequency displacement signal. Under the low-pass effect of a material jetting (aka Polyjet) 3D printing process, this results in a smoother, more accurate surface, with the quantization errors due to the conversion of the model into fixed-resolution voxels removed. Quantization is a fundamental problem for this type of printer, which necessarily has finite jetting resolution.
