The Fraunhofer Center for Maritime Logistics and Services CML<\/a> develops innovative solutions for the maritime sector and the maritime supply chain. We support companies and institutions from shipping, port management and logistics in initiating and implementing future-oriented technologies and processes.\u00a0<\/p>

Starting from everyday challenges, our interdisciplinary teams develop customer-specific solutions for private and public clients. In the four research fields of Maritime Logistics, Ports, Shipping and Autonomous Maritime Systems, our employees transfer the latest scientific findings from the diverse research activities into practice-oriented applications. The focus is on solutions for end-to-end digitalization and process automation, service concepts, and AI-supported data analysis, as well as autonomous maritime systems and sustainable shipping. The innovative concepts are tested and improved at the CML through simulation, models and in real operation.<\/p>

Fraunhofer CML was founded in 2010 as part of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML<\/a> in Hamburg.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The German Institute for Navigation was founded in 1951. From our Bonn office they manage an international network of members and organise conferences of national and international importance every year. You can find out more about their activities and staff on their homepage<\/a>.<\/p>

Commissions and technical committees<\/h3>

The DGON is organised into three commissions and five technical committees, each of which is up to date and regularly organises conferences and symposia for their specialist fields. The commissions are divided into the Air Traffic and General Aviation Navigation Commission, the Maritime Traffic and Navigation Commission, and the Terrestrial Traffic and Vehicle Navigation Commission. On the scientific side, five technical committees (Radar Technology Committee, Gyro Technology Committee, Satellite Navigation Committee, Traffic Telematics Committee and Underwater detection, navigation and communication) complete the organisation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Norwegian Forum for Autonomous Ships<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Norwegian Forum for Autonomous Ships (NFAS) is an interest group for persons or organizations that are interested in the subject of autonomous ships. Membership in NFAS is open to individuals and organizations established in Norway.<\/p>\n

About a year ago Jonathan learned that he will be in charge of organising this year\u2019s ICMASS. Even though he is familiar with organising workshops, the scale of the conference was a bit overwhelming at first. After a warm up phase and adapting to his new role he is now crushing it. Most likely you have been in contact with him before throughout the preparation phase and have received one of his emails, or twenty. No need to introduce Christoph. You know him and chances are high you have met him before. He is active in the field of autonomous shipping for years now and his activities go back to the MUNIN project*, making him one the OGs of MASS research. As the editor he was involved in the proceedings from the beginning and, moreover, he was the one advocating to bring this year\u2019s conference to Hamburg.<\/p>
