Fraunhofer CML moved to this building in 2022 and for the first time so many visitors at once are welcomed to the building. For ICMASS-ISSS there are four floors reserved. Below you have an overview of where is what and it will help you not get lost. Any floor not listed is not part of the conference venue and only CML staff has access.
As the building itself is too small to host everyone at once, and no room offers sufficient space to meet in a plenum, there is a floating conference room throughout the duration of the conference, the MS Princess.
This seemingly royal guest is an extension to the building and acting as a floating conference room. It will host presentations on MASS Technology as well as MASS Business, offer space for everyone to be on board during the plenary meeting and will take everyone one a cruise on Day 2.
Lunches and the Conference Dinner is served on MS Princess as well.
Located on the first floor, the Large Conference Room is the biggest room for several meetings, workshops, or presentations at CML. The quickest way to access is via the staircase coming from the main lobby. Taking the elevator is of course possible but will take longer.
The LCR will host mainly presentations on MASS Technology.
Don’t forget to step by the projects presentation area just outside the room.
Go up to the third floor and turn left and there you’ll find the VR Lab. Usually offering a place to develop and test mixed reality tools in a maritime surrounding, for the conference everything will be real.
With the desks pushed to the side and replaced by chairs, this room will host presentations on MASS Operations and Intelligent Ships.
On the same floor you’ll also find the Ship Handling Simulator that you might want to pay a visit during the lab tours.
On an ordinary work day hogged by CML research staff, during the conference the area behind the desks will be packed with curious minds hearing about all the topics. The area usually foreseen for stand-up and informal meetings is offering a nice presenters space.
On the fourth floor you need to go through the glass doors and to the other end of the room.
The hall on the ground floor is used to store large equipment like boats, a fork lifter, different sorts of trailers and is often guarded by a special type of dog.
For the conference the hall will be utilised to offer space for small exhibition, to socialise with other participants, and you will get some coffee there.
The hall is also you first point of contact and registration is done here.
You did your best to free your schedule, were looking forward to two days of presentations, science, insights and meeting new people from the field of autonomous shipping and still you have meeting in your calendar you cannot miss?
Take your time and use the small office rooms on the third floor. Here you’ll find a desk, with two screens each and a docking station at your disposal.
Don’t take too long though, you’re missing out on the conference.
For everyone who needs a break from all the noise and chatter. Take a rest and enjoy the silence for a moment. Return when your energy is back.
Please don’t talk in the room and don’t you dare to talk on your phone.
