Die Soll-Funktion beschreibt den Zweck eines Produkts oder eines seiner Teilsysteme. Die Soll-Funktion gilt es zu erfüllen, da der Zweck die Existenzberechtigung eines technischen Systems darstellt. Der Zweck beschreibt das Ziel des Modellbildners.

ASE-Definition (engl.)

The target function describes the purpose of a product or one of its subsystems. The target function must be fulfilled, since the purpose is the right to exist of a technical system. The purpose describes the goal of the model builder.
