Executive Summary AI Cube
AI-CUBE is a project funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. The project aims to enhance the understanding of digital technologies related to artificial intelligence (AI) and big data (BD) applied in process industries for the ten SPIRE industrial sectors: cement, ceramics, chemicals, engineering, pulp & paper, refining, minerals and ores, non-ferrous metals, steel and water. The results of the project will be combined in a roadmap that serves as guidance for researchers, managers, and operators, and include specific recommendations for all involved industrial sectors and organizations’ functions and processes.
Introduction to the survey
The survey aims at identifying currently applied AI and BD technologies in the sectors of the process industry. The questions asked will address

A three-dimensional cube summarises the results of the survey, taking into consideration the actual level of maturity of the AI and BD technologies (see figure 1). The list of the technologies will enable a systematic identification of the currently used applications. In addition, it allows an outlook on further application areas for AI and BD technologies within the process industry.
By filling this survey, every expert delivers exceptional value and highly contributes to the quality of the final research agenda. Your input is important to achieve an overview that is as representative and complete as possible.
