Prof. Kira\u2018s Lab arbeitet und publiziert stark in den beiden Bereichen Reinforcement Learning und Learning with Limited Labelled Data (L3D): Datensituationen, in denen nur ein geringes Ma\u00df an Supervision durch Datenannotationen vorhanden sind. Dieses Thema \u00fcberschneidet sich sehr stark mit dem Inhalt meiner Promotion und mit unserer Arbeit im ADA Lovelace Center in der Kompetenzs\u00e4ule \u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scs.fraunhofer.de\/de\/referenzen\/ada-center\/data-centric-ai.html\">Data-centric AI<\/a>\u00ab, bestehend aus den fr\u00fcheren S\u00e4ulen \u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/websites.fraunhofer.de\/adalovelacecenter-blog\/podcast-few-data-learning\/\">Few Data Learning<\/a>\u00ab und \u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/websites.fraunhofer.de\/adalovelacecenter-blog\/few-labels-learning\/\">Few Labels Learning<\/a>\u00ab.<br \/>\nBereits im Fru\u0308hjahr 2021 bin ich im Rahmen meiner Recherchen f\u00fcr ein neues Forschungsprojekt zum Thema \u00bbSemi-constrained Clustering\u00ab auf viele Vorarbeiten von Prof. Kira\u2018s Gruppe gesto\u00dfen. Inhaltlich geht es in dem Projekt darum, sog. Pairwise Constraints zwischen einigen wenigen Datenpunkten als weakly supervised signal zu verwenden, um robuste Clustering-Modelle zu trainieren, welche auch mit neuen, nicht-annotierten Daten umgehen und diese sinnvollen Clustern zuweisen k\u00f6nnen. Die Anwendung davon liegt in Bereichen, in denen Datenannotation schwierig und daher teuer ist. W\u00e4hrend meines Aufenthalts konnte ich unter Prof. Kira\u2019s Anleitung und in engem Austausch mit seinen PhD Studenten weiter an diesem Projekt arbeiten und die Arbeit befindet sich aktuell im Review-Prozess.<br \/>\nDie Zeit in Atlanta hat mich nicht nur fachlich sehr weitergebracht, auch auf der pers\u00f6nlichen Ebene war es ein gelungener Austausch: Ich wurde sehr herzlich von meinen tempor\u00e4ren Lab-Kollegen aufgenommen und hatte einen tollen Arbeitsplatz im CODA-Geb\u00e4ude der Georgia Tech. Ich bin dem Fraunhofer IIS, dem ADA Lovelace Center, der LMU und allen Beteiligten sehr dankbar fu\u0308r die tolle Unterstu\u0308tzung bei der Umsetzung und diese gro\u00dfartige Gelegenheit!\u201c<br \/>\n<em>Jann Goschenhofer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wenn Sie jetzt neugierig sind und tiefer in die Themen <a href=\"https:\/\/websites.fraunhofer.de\/adalovelacecenter-blog\/podcast-few-data-learning\/\">Few Data Learning<\/a> und <a href=\"https:\/\/websites.fraunhofer.de\/adalovelacecenter-blog\/few-labels-learning\/\">Few Labels Learning<\/a> eintauchen m\u00f6chten, h\u00f6ren Sie rein in die zugeh\u00f6rigen Podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Expert of the ADA Lovelace Center as Visiting Researcher in Atlanta<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The ADA Lovelace Center is characterized on the one hand by its close cooperation with industrial partners, and on the other hand by its unique infrastructure in Bavaria: The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS with its working group for Supply Chain Services SCS works and conducts research in cooperation with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, as well as the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and with further participation of the Fraunhofer Institutes IKS and IISB.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the project also has international scientific partners, such as the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) in Tokyo or the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. International scientific exchange is encouraged and I am happy to share here a report of the experience of the expert for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scs.fraunhofer.de\/en\/focus-projects\/ada-center\/data-centric-ai.html\">Data-centric AI<\/a>, Jann Goschenhofer about his time in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I had the great opportunity to visit Prof. Zsolt Kira&#8217;s Robotics Perception and Learning (RIPL) Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a Visiting Researcher in Fall 2021. Prof. Kira&#8217;s Lab works and publishes heavily in both Reinforcement Learning and Learning with Limited Labelled Data (L3D): data situations where there is only a small amount of supervision through data annotations. This topic overlaps very much with the content of my PhD and with our work at the ADA Lovelace Center in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scs.fraunhofer.de\/en\/focus-projects\/ada-center\/data-centric-ai.html\">Data-centric AI<\/a> competency pillar, consisting of the former Few Data Learning and Few Labels Learning pillars. Already in spring 2021, during my research for a new research project on &#8220;Semi-constrained Clustering&#8221;, I came across a lot of preliminary work from Prof. Kira&#8217;s group. The content of the project is about using so-called pairwise constraints between a few data points as a weakly supervised signal to train robust clustering models that can also handle new, non-annotated data and assign them to meaningful clusters. The application of this is in areas where data annotation is difficult and therefore expensive. During my stay, I was able to continue working on this project under Prof. Kira&#8217;s guidance and in close interaction with his PhD students, and the work is currently in the review process.<br \/>\nThe time in Atlanta not only helped me a lot on a professional level, it was also a successful exchange on a personal level: I was very warmly welcomed by my temporary lab colleagues and had a great workplace in the CODA building at Georgia Tech.
