The major part of methane in coal mines is gas deliberating from the broken coal in the surroundings of the longwall and from dug part of the mine. Depending on the quality CMM can be divided into 3 classes of utilisation, as shown in the tabel below.

Of course, the high quality gases are also used instead of the medium quality gases. If CMM is used as a replacement of natural gas a chemical treatment is necessary to conzentrade the methane.

> 50 % CH4
