CIPRNet project

The CIPRNet project [1] uses the following definition:

Two infrastructures are functional dependent when objects in one infrastructure can only function when the objects in the other infrastructure operate properly.

Functional dependencies can be uni- or bi-directional (interdependency). The dependency is direct when there is a direct connection between them and they are indirect when there are one or more mediating components between them.

DIESIS project

The DIESIS project [2] gives the following definition:

Two infrastructures are functional dependent when objects in one infrastructure can only function when the objects in the other infrastructure operate properly. Functional dependencies can be uni- or bi-directional (interdependency). The dependency is direct when there is a direct connection between them and they are indirect when there are one or more mediating components between them.
