The CIPRNet project [1] uses the following definition:

Federate(d) simulation is the parallel execution of a group of simulations wherein information is exchanged between individual simulations at run-time. (source: Rathnam, 2004)


DIESIS project

The DIESIS project [2] gives the following definition:

The parallel execution of a group of simulations wherein information is exchanged between individual simulations at run-time. [3]
